Gene LoVasco


With more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, Gene leads and inspires his team to provide innovative and sustainable solutions for clients. His expertise lies in executive benefit planning, transferring businesses to the next generation, and protecting estates from inheritance taxes.

Prior to forming LoVasco, Gene was president of Brown & Brown of Detroit, one of Michigan’s leading insurance companies, after joining when his independent agency was acquired in 2007. Before entering the insurance industry, Gene practiced public accounting at Arthur Andersen.

Gene sits on the boards of the St. John Hospital Foundation, American College Foundation, and The Detroit Athletic Club Foundation. He also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, golfing, and biking.

Annette Marschall

Vice President & Managing Director

Annette manages the Insurance Services team along with coordinating all aspects of underwriting and case design.

Naturally forward-thinking, Annette’s skillset is organization and implementation. Her extensive experience in an agency setting, from ALCOS and Schechter Wealth, highlights her expertise in policy planning and delivery, as well as efficient team management.

Annette is dedicated to charitable work: volunteering at nonprofits; participating in her church; and traveling on mission trips, most recently to Costa Rica and Peru.

John Marshall

Vice President

For more than 40 years, John has seen insurance in action—watching companies stay in business and families stay together. His goal is to protect people from living too long, dying too young, or becoming disabled.

Call him old-school, but John is a bona fide life insurance salesman. His focus is in wealth transfer planning, executive benefits, and corporate succession planning, but his real expertise is relationships. He treats clients like family; and when you’ve been in the business as long as he has, they practically are family.

John was Chairman and a founding partner of ALCOS before being acquired by Brown & Brown. John’s many affiliations and interests, including being a Principal for M Financial and a 41-year member of the Million Dollar Round Table with 23 “Top of the Table” qualifications, serving on the board of The Restore Foundation and Detroit Athletic Club, and traveling with his wife, highlight his commitment to work, community, and family.

Meg Ambabo

Senior Associate

Meg works with our team of advisors and clients to manage their insurance policies. Her customer service role is often synonymous with “caregiver.” Meg has been taking care of elder family members since she was 12 years old; her empathy allows her to relate to older clients and understand their concerns and unique needs.

For more than 30 years, Meg has served a range of clientele—from elderly annuity holders to executives. She began her insurance career with CNA in 1980. CNA’s reorganization in early 2002 allowed her the opportunity to join ALCOS (later Brown & Brown) as a Customer Service Representative in the Financial Services division.

Meg appreciates the close-knit, familial feel of LoVasco, where the well being of everyone is most important.

Ryan DiBartolomeo


Ryan assists all of our teams—Insurance, Retirement and Employee Benefits—in developing their areas of business by searching for new ways to gather and analyze data on clients and prospects.

After fulfilling a summer internship at LoVasco, Ryan was immediately ready to assume a full-time role. His first year in the industry has proven to be a perfect fit, aligned with the type of life work he was eager to commit himself to. Ryan’s passion for learning lends itself to bringing innovative approaches to financial services with a mission to constantly advance how we do business and keep LoVasco ahead of the curve in technology and efficiency. 

Ryan’s penchant for learning extends beyond the financial realm; he also studies cooking in his free time. Having read nearly a hundred cookbooks by many of the Michelin Star chefs, Ryan loves to experiment with food and master new techniques.

Mike Iley

Vice President & Managing Director

Mike is an influencer. He helps organizations design, build, and maintain the next generation of workplace savings solutions.

At LoVasco, Mike is responsible for thought leadership and the strategic direction of the firm’s Retirement Plan Consulting practice. His prior experience working at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co, NEPC Investment Consulting, and Morgan Stanley’s Graystone Consulting Group, provides a unique perspective on the industry. Mike is motivated every day to help the average American worker, who might not otherwise have access to financial guidance, the opportunity to build a meaningful nest egg for retirement by designing innovative retirement plans.

Mike is an avid Cross-Fitter and is active in his church community.

Chris Burke

Vice President

Chris has a pivotal role at LoVasco: he is responsible for creating lasting relationships with business leaders who want to provide a rewarding retirement experience for their employees.

By offering relevant and current investment advice and financial education, Chris is able to connect with his clients which helps them to understand and implement a plan for financial success. His background in law, and as an investment advisor at a large RIA and a prominent Wall Street brokerage firm, make him well positioned to give guidance to plan participants. He helps clients grow financially and personally by creating greater comfort in their financial situation.

America is facing a retirement crisis. In a marketplace where other advisors are shying away from 401(k) advice, Chris is running towards it to aid in the crisis; LoVasco is here to show participants the power of thorough and honest financial advice. Chris aims to make the process of properly using a retirement plan, within the context of a client’s financial situation, as easy as possible and equally impactful for their employees.

When he’s not watching the stock market, Chris enjoys playing hockey on the weekends and spending time with his wife, Alyse, an elementary school teacher.

Jim Chapman


A recent graduate, Jim is already seizing the opportunity to make an impact in the retirement industry. His passion for working within capital markets and background in equity research for a large mutual fund laid an exceptional foundation of analytical and financial modeling skills.

Beyond the daily task of supporting the team’s client service efforts, Jim plays a key role in monitoring investments in retirement programs and developing reports that help our clients make good decisions.

Outside of the office, Jim is an avid golfer, having played four years at the collegiate level.

Michael LoVasco

Executive Vice President

As cofounder of LoVasco Consulting Group, Michael represents the third generation of family in the insurance industry. A steward of the reputation his grandfather, father, and family members have established over the last 60 years, Michael continues to uphold their legacy of integrity and hard work by building lasting relationship that focus on taking care of people.

Prior experience working for Deloitte, in New York City, helped shape some of the Michael’s business philosophies that have become integral to LoVasco’s culture of client services. Michael works with the Benefits team to provide financial modeling, peer review, strategy, and project management. He also spends much of his time meeting new people and learning about their businesses.

Serving on the Young Leadership Council of Racquet Up Detroit and being a Partner for Cornerstone Schools are just two examples of Michael’s charity involvement and commitment to Detroit.

Aaron Loiselle

Vice President & Managing Director

Aaron uses his roots in mathematics and teaching to advise employers on their health and welfare plans. Whether he is the spreadsheet guy, focused on financial modeling, or running client engagements, interacting with executives, Aaron’s blended skill set enables him to communicate well with CFOs and address the intricate benefits issues that face HR managers.

Past experience at Mercer and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan gives Aaron keen insight to help employers optimize their health and welfare benefit plans by providing them with knowledgeable financial, strategic, and compliance advice.

When he’s not crunching numbers, the avid outdoorsman is trekking the trails with family and friends.

Christina Losier

Vice President

Whether it’s providing solutions to control costs or improving overall employee engagement, Christina applies both technical and creative expertise when guiding employers on health and welfare plan strategy.

Prior experience as a Principal consultant at Mercer developed Christina’s ability to lead client engagements. Unbound by traditional corporate constraints, Christina thrives under a more rewarding approach at LoVasco: free reign to design healthcare plans with our clients’ best interest at heart.

Indicative of her penchant for taking care of others, Christina delights family and friends with her creative culinary endeavors.

Laura Eames

Vice President

Laura is all about making people happy, and our clients love her. With expertise in plan design, marketing, and administration, she invests quality time listening, problem solving, and keeping clients satisfied and on track.

Laura’s human resources background primes her to work seamlessly with clients’ HR departments, and she appreciates being able to witness and contribute to their success. A giver at heart, Laura has a passion for helping others and has earned a reputation for becoming an extension of the client's team.

Michelle Olar

Senior Analyst

Michelle’s role on the Benefits team is equal parts educator and analyst. A former high school math teacher, her background lends itself to breaking down complex information and effectively communicating it to clients.

Beyond the basic responsibilities of her role, such as financial analysis, underwriting, and marketing healthcare programs, Michelle works to create benefit solutions that allow clients to achieve their financial goals.

At the office, Michelle’s upbeat personality not only influences the relationships she forms with clients, but also complements the LoVasco team camaraderie. She is a motivated young professional whose love of travel and being active promotes a strong work ethic and desire to continue learning.

Elena Prendes

Chief Operating Officer

Elena is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of LoVasco. Elena takes her knack for crossword puzzles and translates it to problem-solving at the office. Whether it’s accounting, marketing, or technology, her laser focus on process improvements and service ensures that our team is equipped to provide clients the best overall experience.

Having previously worked for two M Financial firms, Elena has an extensive knowledge of M products, underwriting, service, and technology, which enables her to support everyone on our team.

Angie Bulgarelli

Executive Assistant

Executive assistant and self-described “office cheerleader,” Angie started part-time but quickly became a key player in supporting our growing team and instrumental in building our company culture.

Angie’s background is in family entertainment. After 17 years working for a themed attractions corporation, Angie understands the value of the customer experience. Her dedication to sustaining a positive environment for employees propels our team to take better care of their clients.

A Missouri native, Angie loves exploring downtown Detroit and can recommend just the right place for any event.

Alison Britton

Office Administrator

With the past 10 years devoted to teaching, Ali made a refreshing switch from academia to part-time office administrator at LoVasco, adopting a more reliable schedule that allows her to care for her young children. The role is not entirely new to her, though; Ali’s previous experience in day-to-day company operations management for a marketing firm crosses over, as do the highly coveted interpersonal skills of a teacher.

Ali’s analytical expertise are applicable in assisting with all aspects of running the operations team. Whether it’s supply ordering, updating the database, coordinating meetings, or supporting staff with small projects, no task is too small. She makes the office her school, helping wherever she can and learning a new industry along the way.

A mother of three, Ali recently returned to the work force with enthusiasm. She is fully embracing the opportunity to work downtown in a motivating office culture and contribute to our growing company.
